With this opportunity, Ivory will get to take a trial run of a life as a veterinarian, including two days of exploring the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washingtone, D.C., as she learns about animal anatomy, veterinary science, and possible career tracks in this field.
Ivory will have more than five days of interactive and hands-on experiences, including:
- Getting hands-on clinical care experiences using stethoscopes, placing catheters, canine first aid procedures, giving injections, and dissecting a pig heart.
- Exploring the National Zoo with a teaching veterinarian to learn about GPS tracking and comparative animal anatomy, examing the business of zoos, & designing animal enrichments and enclosures
- Discussing the veterinary school process and career paths
Ivory is raising funds to cover the cost of tuition, traveling costs, and housing.
She plans to work hard fundraising by making and selling her Lola's (gma) lumpia (egg rolls), bussing tables at her family's coffeehouse, and other fundraisers. But that won't cover everything!
If you are able, would you consider donating towards Ivory's incredible opportunity?
She would be forever grateful!
Thank you!
