Hi. My name is Ivette Mir. I live in Wisconsin . I’m disabled and trying to escape an abusive relationship. The reason I made this Gofundme is because I cannot access shelter in Ozaukee, Milwaukee or Washington County. I’ve been telling healthcare and mental health providers and Wisconsin Aging and Disability that I’m being financially, verbally and psychologically abused. I receive a very small disability check. My abuser has prevented me from finding work. I have an employment gap of 13 years. I’m trying to raise money for 6 months rent to get a studio Apartment in Milwaukee. They cost between $1,000-1,2000 per month. I want to procure employment within that time. Perhaps even sign up for VOC rehab for job training while I wait for work.

The reason shelters are hard to get into is because Congress reduced federal VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) funding by 40%. I made this Gofundme after calling shelters for almost 2 months. Please help me. I’m having to go to the doctors a lot for toradol injections and pills and ondasteron because the migraines and nausea are so intense. I lose my appetite often and lost some weight. I have a mental health counselor, I told her everything. I told the hospital I was at everything and they still discharged me into an unsafe environment after 3 days. I told them I was scared. They had me call 14 shelters at the hospital. None of them would take me. I’ve been calling Domestic Violence shelters every week. Unfortunately, they are all full. I’m tired of being abused. Cops cannot do anything but issue him a citation for disorderly conduct because he doesn’t hit me. He takes my SSI check from me every month. I wish Aging and Disabilities did something. I wish someone cared. I feel ashamed I have to beg strangers to help me. But I have no other choice.
