My name is Scarlet, and I run a nonprofit special needs cat-focused animal rescue in Athens, GA. This fundraiser is for the medical needs of one of our most unique cases, Ivar.

I pay most of our bills out of pocket, as donations do not cover everything we need, and thought GoFundMe may be a way to reach new audiences that aren’t familiar with our rescue.

Ivar has some sort of congenital deformity in his hind limbs. His back legs are hyperextended and we aren’t positive yet but it seems likely that he doesn’t have hip sockets at all. He also has microopthalmia in one eye, but that doesn’t seem to be a concern at the moment.

We managed to get him in for a consult at UGA and ran just about every test in the book- everything else seems to be normal, but we are waiting on the results of one more test for a congenital heart-related issue. Once we have that final result in, we can start planning his treatment or care. At the moment, we don’t think there is a surgical option for him, but we will be revisiting that possibility.

His bills are topping 2500 so far, and he needs to start physical therapy as soon as possible, which will also be expensive. We have had to close our doors to new intakes while we take care of Ivar.

Anything we can raise here will help us get Ivar the care he needs and make sure he has the best chance at life possible. That’s why we’re here- to give a chance to animals that would otherwise be overlooked.

Ivar is the sweetest kitten in the world and he deserves the best life.
