Hello everyone,
My name is Ivan Yabut, and I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. Golf has been a part of my life since I was four years old, thanks to my dad and older sister. At six, my sister and I joined the First Tee of Omaha, where we learned the organization’s nine core values: responsibility, honesty, integrity, perseverance, courtesy, confidence, sportsmanship, respect, and judgment. These values have shaped not only my golf career but my life.
Through First Tee, I began competing in junior tournaments every summer. I fell in love with competition the moment I watched my sister sink a birdie putt to send her team to Nationals. I wasn’t the most naturally gifted golfer, but perseverance became my edge.
My hard work earned me a scholarship to play college golf at Concordia University (Seward, NE). My game reached a new level there:
• Broke the single-round school record with a 7-under 65 (36-29)
• Earned 4 top-five and 7 top-ten finishes, and top 5 at Conference
• Named Srixon Academic All-American twice
• Named First-Team All-Conference twice
I graduated in three years and continued my journey at Texas A&M University–Commerce, where I competed at the Division I level. This past May, I completed my master’s degree and turned professional in June.
I made my professional debut on the Dakotas Tour, opening with a bogey-free 6-under round and finishing T-16 in my first two events. I then played the Nebraska Open, shooting 5-under in round one and making my first professional cut. At Korn Ferry Tour Pre-Q School, I fell just short of advancing, but I hit 43 of 54 greens, showing that my game is trending in the right direction.
What’s Next
In December, I will be traveling to Thailand to compete in Asian Tour Q-School, one of the biggest opportunities of my career. This is a crucial step toward earning full professional status and competing at the highest level.
This journey is expensive, and any support, no matter the amount, will help cover travel, lodging, entry fees, and training expenses.
Your generosity will directly support my pursuit of becoming a world-class professional golfer.
Thank you so much for your support and belief in my journey.
— Ivan Yabut
