Help Ivan Battle Terminal Cancer and Return Home

(English) Stop for a moment... picture that person who you have crossed paths with in life that you just instantly liked. They were good humored with a warm smile, so kind, gentle and friendly, happy to help you with whatever you needed...

Did this face come to mind? Yeah, mine too. 

This is Ivan Zapata, he is 62 years old and is currently losing the fight for his life.
Everyone experiences some periods where you're a little ill, right? Nothing some ibuprofen or Tylenol can't take care of! After a week of unbearable headaches and sudden weakness, Ivan went to the ER and was told he suffered a stroke. He was discharged and sent home. During the last 2 weeks, Ivan had not improved. Infact, he had worsened. Things took a turn for the worst and he was admitted to the hospital. After several MRIs and CT Scans, we were told there was a massive tumor in his brain and a biopsy needed to be done. Biopsy results came in and Ivan has been diagnosed with a very aggressive cancerous tumor and unfortunately it cannot be treated. The doctors have given him 6 months to a year to live. With remission not a possibility and Ivan's need of constant medical aide, Ivan's oncology team has advised him to make the journey home to Colombia to spend the remainder of his time with loved ones. 

Ivan's sister Claudia is bearing the weight of an immense emotional burden. She is his only immediate family here in Greenville, SC. She has not left his side since day 1. This is especially hard for her as she is a single mother of two and due to circumstances out of her control, she is unable to provide Ivan with the constant, 24/7 care that he needs and deserves. 

Ivan is currently hospitalized. The donations will help in getting Ivan back to his hometown in Colombia. Cover medical expenses during his flight, when he arrives and when the inevitable happens... funeral expenses.

(Spanish) Detente por un momento ... imagina a esa persona con la que te has cruzado en la vida y que te gustó instantáneamente. Estaban de buen humor con una sonrisa, muy amable, gentile y amistoso, felices de ayudarlo con lo que necesite...

¿Te vino a la mente esta cara? Sí, al mío también.

Este es Iván Zapata, tiene 62 años y actualmente está perdiendo la lucha por su vida.
Todo el mundo experimenta algunos períodos en los que están un poco enfermo, ¿verdad? ¡Nada de lo que el ibuprofeno o el Tylenol no se puedan encargar! Después de una semana de dolores de cabeza insoportables y debilidad repentina, Iván fue a la sala de emergencias y le dijeron que había sufrido un derrame cerebral. Fue dado de alta y enviado a casa. Durante las últimas 2 semanas, Iván no había mejorado. De hecho, había empeorado. Las cosas empeoraron y fue ingresado en el hospital. Después de varias resonancias magnéticas y tomografías computarizadas, nos dijeron que había un tumor masivo en su cerebro y que era necesario realizar una biopsia. Llegaron los resultados de la biopsia e Ivan ha sido diagnosticado con un tumor canceroso muy agresivo y, lamentablemente, no se puede tratar. Los médicos le han dado de 6 meses a un año de vida. Dado que la remisión no es una posibilidad y la necesidad de Iván de un asistente médico constante, el equipo de oncología de Iván le ha aconsejado que haga el viaje de regreso a Colombia para pasar el resto de su tiempo con sus seres queridos.

La hermana de Iván, Claudia, está soportando el peso de una inmensa carga emocional. Ella es su única familia inmediata aquí en Greenville, SC. No se ha apartado de su lado desde el primer día. Esto es especialmente difícil para ella, ya que es madre soltera de dos hijos y, debido a circunstancias fuera de su control, no puede brindarle a Iván la atención constante las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana que él necesita y merece.

Iván está actualmente hospitalizado. Las donaciones ayudarán a que Iván regrese a su ciudad natal en Colombia. Cubre los gastos médicos durante su vuelo, cuando llegue y cuando ocurra lo inevitable ... gastos del funeral.
