Help Ivan as he tries to recover from Paralysis.
Ivan was in a car accident which left him with severe back pain. To relieve the pain, Ivan had a routine epidural injection which caused a blood infection. This escalated into an abscess in his spinal cord, which paralyzed him from the chest down. After being admitted to the hospital, Ivan had to undergo emergency Thoracic Laminectomy surgery to remove the abscess. Thankfully, the surgery prevented permanent paralysis, however he did not regain full function and mobility, and may never be 100% recovered. He does not have normal feeling from the chest down. Ivan has worked hard to be able to walk (with assistance), however he is trying his hardest to reach his full potential knowing it will be a long process. Learning how to walk, shower on his own, use the bathroom, and transport himself are part of his road to recovery.
The money that we are trying to raise for Ivan will go towards helpful equipment and his continued recovery through procedures such as Aqua therapy, electric stimulant therapy, reverse magnetic therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, all natural vitamins, and more. Anything outside of (2) hours / week of physical therapy and recommended alternative medical procedures that are important for recovery, are not covered by insurance and will need to be paid for out of pocket. Doctors say that there is a crucial time period of recovery - 1 week to 6 months after surgery. Any type of growth after will be minimal, so these next few months are very crucial.
Anyone who knows Ivan, knows he is a loving and energetic person who wants to get back to interacting with his family and friends. It has been physically and mentally hard for him, especially not being able to care for and play with his daughter. Due to the physical nature of Ivan's job, he is unable to work to support his family the way he always has. Ivan is a very dedicated husband, father, brother, son, friend, the list goes on. I bet at one point in time Ivan has had your back; I know he has had mine plenty of times - now it’s time to have his BACK and return the favor.
DONATIONS, BIG OR SMALL, WILL HELP IVAN ON HIS LONG RECOVERY - PLEASE SHARE.
