We are reaching out on behalf of Itala Marr and her children, who require support to make their home safe again.

Why We're Asking for Help

The home has sustained significant water damage on the roof and in the interior of the home due to repairs not completed or done incorrectly. Additionally, the additions built on the home over 10 years ago, were not built in compliance with building codes. The result is a roof that has leaked from the beginning and has expanded. Upon inspection, we are required to rebuild the roof on the additions.

Itala has not been able to maintain or repair the home on her own as all her funds go to support her children due to the fact that she does not receive stable child support payments. The courts awarded Itala monthly payments in September from her ex-husband but she has only received partial payments. So, Itala has not had extra funds to repair her home. Her income on social assistance in only enough to provide for her children and herself.

Itala’s Health and Situation

Itala is currently unable to work due to serious health issues and is undergoing kidney dialysis multiple times a week. She has polycystic kidney disease & as a result, is on the transplant list, waiting for a kidney donor. With very little income and rising medical needs, paying rent elsewhere is simply not an option.

Despite everything, Itala continues to provide a safe, loving home for her children. She takes tremendous pride in keeping their house clean, cared for, and filled with love. When she feels well enough, Itala has independently made improvements to her home in conjunction with other repairs.

This home is all they have.

How You Can Help

We are raising $6,000 to cover:

Propert tax payment (completed)

Any banking or GoFundMe processing fees

Roof repairs

Repairs as a result of water damage in several rooms

This amount will ensure Itala and her children can stay in their safe, secure and loving home.

Additionally, we are searching for donations of building supplies from left over projects such as insulation, linoleum, dryall sheets, wall panels, drywall mud, lumber, a 32" wide exterior metal door, etc.
