We are reaching out with a heartfelt appeal on behalf of Itai William Ndowe, a resilient and humble man based in Kimberley, South Africa, who is currently facing severe medical, personal, and social hardship. Itai urgently requires hip and knee replacement surgery—a procedure that holds the key to restoring his mobility, dignity, and ability to work and live independently.
After seeking help from the local public health system, Itai was placed at number 550 on the waiting list, with fewer than 10 such procedures performed per year at the regional hospital. This effectively renders public assistance unattainable in any reasonable timeframe. In his current state, he is completely incapacitated, unable to engage in employment or earn a living.
The only feasible medical option left is to pursue the surgery through the private health sector, where the associated costs are far beyond Itai’s financial capacity. These include not only the surgery itself but pre-operative assessments, rehabilitation, and postoperative care.
We are appealing to your generosity to help raise funds so that Itai can:
- Undergo critical hip and knee replacement surgeries at a private facility
- Access the necessary post-surgical rehabilitation
- Regain his independence and return to the workforce
- Restore his quality of life and personal dignity
Beyond the medical urgency, Itai’s condition has led to extensive personal and social isolation, further compounding the adversity he faces daily. Your support could change the trajectory of his life, offering him not just healing, but hope.
No contribution is too small. Every donation brings us closer to helping Itai walk again and rebuild his life with strength and self-sufficiency.
