Help Issac receive a new liver

Donation protected
Hi all, I am posting this fundraiser on behalf of the Derrah family, Charles is a very close friend and work colleague and his family is in need of your support.

Born at 8:23 PM December 9th, 2022, weighing 9lbs and 12 ounces Issac entered this world a fighter, at the time nobody would guess just how critical this rainbow baby's strength and resilience would become.

Issac joined Kristina and Charles at home, where his older sister was excited to have her new baby brother to share Christmas with. They celebrated Christmas much like the rest of us, with friends and family spreading joy and cheer.

Just over a month old, Kristina and Charles realized something was not quite right, Issac appeared to be showing more signs of Jaundice and booked an appointment for the next day with their family doctor. From that moment time has been suspended in the air, as 4 days later they were headed to Nova Scotia's IWK - Canada's Maritime major pediatric and trauma centre. The first week that Issac was admitted consisted of test after test as doctors searched for answers and at less than 2 months old, little Issac underwent his first surgery as his liver was not draining properly.

Kristina, Charles and Issac were able to head home to New Brunswick mid-February, but on March 8th they quickly found themselves admitted back to a local Fredericton hospital as Issac appeared to be retaining fluid and had a fever. While Kristina stayed with Issac who was admitted, Charles had to make daily commutes between Fredericton and Woodstock where the family resides to reduce the stress and strain on their daughter who was at home with relatives.

Having spent both his 2nd and 3rd-month milestones admitted to the hospital, the family's hope was that they could spend Issac turning 4 months old at home with his big sister. Throughout this time, the family's only ask was for prayers and positive thoughts while they navigated this journey, guided by highly skilled doctors and nurses.

As they continued to take everything in stride, it was welcome news after a few days when they could once again return home and all be under the same roof.

As Issac's 4th month of birth fast approaches, they once again find themselves admitted at the IWK. This journey has been a roller coaster, and for the last couple of months Charles and Kristina have been mentally preparing themselves for the potential of an upcoming trip to Toronto. Due to Issac's age and size a liver transplant would only be possible at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), which is a major pediatric teaching hospital.

In order to help Kristina, Charles, Issac and family cover the expenses for travel, accommodations and general expenses related to Issac's Liver Transplant Surgery & ongoing medical treatment, this GoFundMe has been created. If you find yourself able to donate, please know the family thanks you with all of their heart.
