Hi, my name is Issac "Jeremy" Caballero. I love Running!!! Thats why this photo is here, I used to pay for my own registration fees and focus on raising money for charities and non profits, Now I am the charity. I am a former healthcare workforce development instructor, certified Community Health Worker, and currently an unsalaried City Public Health Commissioner in Austin, Texas. I originally moved here from the Bronx about five years ago after facing the reality that remaining in New York long-term was no longer financially sustainable without Section 8, public housing, or government subsidies due to the extremely high cost of living.
For years, I’ve dedicated my career to public health, healthcare education, and workforce development supporting underserved communities through training, mentorship, and direct service. I’ve worked in clinical settings as a phlebotomist supporting STI/HIV testing services and later transitioned into education, where I built and led a vocational allied healthcare program for a nonprofit workforce development charter school.

In November 2025 after the first round go government shutdowns, workforce development grant cuts in americorps, peace corps, job corps and etc, I was laid off from my instructor role during a period of funding instability and organizational changes affecting workforce development programs. I was in the process of transitioning into another position at the time, but that opportunity was delayed multiple times and ultimately did not move forward due to broader shutdown and funding disruptions.

Since then, I have been actively job searching, applying across multiple sectors, and interviewing consistently. Over the past several months, I have made it to final rounds in multiple hiring processes. I have also received two formal job offers from nonprofit organizations, but despite completing onboarding steps including offer letters and background checks, those roles ultimately did not materialize. In other instances, I was told I was “overqualified” or not the right fit, despite my public health and workforce development background.

By early 2026, after months of instability and limited support systems, I created this GoFundMe as a last resort to avoid falling behind further on housing and basic living expenses. I have been navigating this transition largely without nearby family support, as most of my immediate family remains in New York, and I am currently living alone in Austin. I don't qualify for SNAP or Unemployment.

Through community support, I was able to secure rental assistance for April and May 2026 through a social service provider after applying over and over since November of 2025 and figuring it out on my own using savings and maxing out credit cards..., but I am still facing significant financial hardship.
I am currently trying to cover:
Basic housing stability and past-due rent
Utilities (electricity, water, internet, phone)
Food and essential living supplies
Transportation for interviews and job opportunities
Pet care and daily survival needs

My goal is to stabilize financially so I can continue pursuing full-time employment while also continuing my commitment to public health and community service.

Any support no matter the amount or even sharing this page would make a meaningful difference during this time.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you are able to offer. It truly means everything to me.
