This is Islam. A journalist, husband and father from Gaza.
He and his family were displaced from their home at the beginning of the violence, and it has now been completely destroyed by the Israeli Occupation.
Before the genocide began, Islam owned and ran a small supermarket. However, after that was also destroyed. Islam like many of his new colleagues, felt compelled to don the press vest and document the devastation of his people.
He has four children. Three girls aged 10, 7 and 5 and a 1-year-old little boy.
He and his family loved to spend days out together at markets and the beach and having family dinners at restaurants.
His daughters loved school and were high achievers in their classes. Their favourite thing to do was whatever daddy was doing.
Almost two years on and his girls have become less playful, much quieter and far more reserved than they were. They only dream now of finding clothes and shoes and enough food to fill their bellies.
His son has known no other life than this one of constant violence, danger and threat.
Islam made the difficult decision to live separately from his wife and children after he started reporting the news to keep them safe.
He spends every Friday night with them but, during the week, Islams wife (who he describes as a hero) must care for her children while worrying every minute for her husband.
Poverty in the Gaza strip has now reached 100% and inflation has hit a high of 250% according to the World Bank making buying even the basics a borderline impossibility.
Islam and his wife are proud people, but the time has come where it is necessary for them to rely on the kindness of strangers.
With no end to the genocide in sight, they are in need of money to waterproof and insulate their tent, buy clothes and shoes for the children, milk and nappies for the baby and be able to afford food that is more nourishing than the tinned goods they have been surviving on.
