Help Isha Heal : Funds for Life-Saving Surgery

Dear friends and supporters,

We are reaching out to you today with a heartfelt appeal for help. Isha Devkota, a loving daughter has been struggling with a chronic health condition for the past nine years. What started as constant pain in the abdomen was diagnosed as Non-Proliferative Glomerulonephritis. Isha has been on a long journey of treatment with immunosuppressants, steroids and various other medications. Despite showing some improvement in the beginning, she had a sudden setback after nine years when she was diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease. She is severely anemic and regularly needs blood transfusions. Her nephrologist has suggested she be treated with Erythropoietin (glycoprotein hormone, naturally produced by the peritubular cells of the kidney, that stimulates red blood cell production) and supplement with Iron (intravenous). To lead a normal life, she will need a kidney transplant very soon. Her mom and dad are getting their tests done to see if they can match for the transplant.

Isha has been on a roller coaster ride emotionally, physically and financially. She is not medically insured and all the expenses come out of her pocket. The estimated cost for her surgery, donor's surgery and post-operative expenses will be close to $25000.

Isha is an extremely bright young woman passionate about public health who could not pursue her master's degree. She had to put brakes on everything a young woman can dream of. We appeal to you for your kind and generous support to help Isha get the medical treatment she needs to regain her health.
