ALL MONEY RAISED WILL GO DIRECTELY TO ISAIAS AND HIS FAMILY.
Isaias is our Co-worker and friend. He is a husband, father, son and brother to a wonderful family. Most of all a loving, caring, selfless person. Isaias and his family have also welcomed a new member to their family in January.
Isaias was having leg pain on December 17 of 2020. So he went to see the doctor as he did not think this was normal. They performed an x-ray and found a couple dark spots, so they said they needed to set up an MRI to confirm what the dark spots were. On January 4th Isaias and his wife went in to deliver their daughter. On January 5th Andromeda was born, such a happy day for their family! During this time, they had not heard from the doctor since a biopsy was performed so there were many sleepless nights, not just due to the new baby. On January 7th, as they were leaving the hospital with the new baby, they received the call. Isaias was told that he had an Osteosarcoma. This is a type of cancer that produces immature bone. It is the most common type of cancer that arises in bones, and it is usually found at the end of long bones, often around the knee. Most people diagnosed with osteosarcoma are under the age of 25, Isaias is 31 so this is kind of rare for his age. This is his story....
Now that they know what they were dealing with, they decided to start Isaias on one of the strongest forms of chemo. His first treatment was on February 19th and they discovered that he gets extremely nauseous after treatments till about 3 days before his next treatment. He would become nauseous from just the smell of some foods making him throw up, he lost 15 lbs in the first week. After trying multiple medications to relieve the nausea, they finally found a quick medication to relieve his nausea. The chemo treatments would be needed for 6 months before they could think of doing surgery. After the surgery, which could mean either reconstruction or amputation, he will still have to go in and have body scans done every 3 months and will need physical therapy.
During this time his wife, Karen, has been taking care of their 3 children as well helping Isaias with items that he needs. Camilla, Sofia and newly born Andromeda can be exhausting at times. As many know, with a newborn the sleep comes sparingly. Family members help when they can, but it is daddy that they would like to spend more time with but due to the chemo this time is fewer than he would like. Due the treatments and the IV port in his chest, it is hard for him to even hold or hug the children.
Isaias and his family need our help. With Isaias being the primary source of income, and with his wife being on maternity leave during this time, the bills and financial hardships will come. Our goal is to ease the financial burden of hefty medical bills and living expenses during his treatments and surgery so he can rest and focus on recovery and enjoying time with his newly improved family. Please donate what you can to our wonderful friend and his family. We all need Isaias back enjoying life as soon as possible!
