I was driving down University Avenue on my way home when everything changed in an instant. A red SUV, which was stopped at a stop sign, suddenly pulled out in front of me even though I had the right of way. My car hit the side of their SUV, and the impact destroyed the entire front of my car. I braced myself with my right leg, but as soon as we collided, I felt my leg dislocate. My car spun out of control, and I blacked out. When the car finally stopped, I couldn't get out from the driver's side, and my right leg was stuck. I couldn't walk on it at all. After a moment, a man who was shopping in a nearby pawn shop saw what happened, came over, opened my door from the outside, and picked me up because I couldn't move, and another man helped him move me. I later learned I had dislocated my hip and broken my femur in three different areas, which required immediate surgery.

Since the accident, life has been incredibly difficult for me and my family. My car was destroyed and towed away. I also had to get my hip popped back into place, as well as undergo surgery to repair my femur. I was the main provider for my family, but now I am unable to work for six months to a year while I recover. The doctors told me I will have permanent arthritis in my right leg because of the screws in my femur. Without a car, I have no way to get around, and we are facing mounting medical bills and daily living expenses during my recovery. This accident has turned our lives upside down, and we are doing our best to stay hopeful and strong.
