Help Isaak Defeat leukemia For Good!

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

We wish we were coming to you all with uplifting news, but we are back in the firefight at full volume. After completing 13 months of active chemotherapy treatments, life was almost back to normal as Isaak was in maintenance therapy and doing wonderful. We had finally reached a place where we were able to step back and process some of what the previous year and a half had thrown at us.

At the end of April, Isaak had routine blood work done, and his numbers came back abnormal. Shortly after, he had a bone marrow biopsy to make sure everything was still clear. A couple of days later, we got the news that no parent wants to hear, especially for a second time. The doctors notified us that the report showed relapsed leukemia. Later that night, our family was separated again, and Isaak was admitted to Providence Medical in Anchorage for a month of re-induction chemotherapy treatments. Basically starting over.

37 days into an incredibly difficult inpatient stay at Providence, he had another bone marrow biopsy, to which the doctors said he hadn’t fully responded to the treatment and found leukemia was still present.

The medical team in Alaska said they are not equipped for these scenarios, so we were medivaced back to Seattle Children's Hospital for the second time.

We arrived on Sunday, and the past couple of days have been a fire hydrant of information that we have been trying to grasp as we work with the medical team to make a plan moving forward. We don’t know what to think and can barely put words to our thoughts, with so many questions and so many unknowns.

One thing we do know is that God is good, and He never fails!

From preliminary talks with the Seattle medical team, it sounds like 2 more months of chemo and immunotherapy will take place before a highly likely bone marrow transplant, which would be 3 more months out of state. Please join us in prayer as our family would love to stay together as much as possible. Our daughters, Violet and Emerald, will be staying in AK until we have a plan and can be out-patient and move to some type of housing, bringing us back together.

Through this process, we have realized how immensely blessed we are to have the family & friends and the support system that we have. We cannot thank you all enough for your incredible generosity and love that you’ve shown our family and our son over the past two years. I don’t know how people make it through something like this without the help of others.

We are once again requesting continuous prayers as we make tough decisions for the best treatment and success for our strong boy.

Isaak is the true meaning of courage and strength. Every day he wakes up and conquers the day regardless of what’s thrown at him. He has been through more than anyone can imagine and does it with a resilience that most people could only dream of having. Over the past 18 months, he’s been in the hospital 82 days, received 16 different chemotherapies, 56 leg injections, 36 spinal taps, 5 bone marrow biopsies, 100’s of needle pokes, and over 5000 pills swallowed. He has the heart of a lion and a supernatural strength that as a grown adult, I can only imagine having. Isaak turns 5 on May 24th, and we can’t wait to celebrate him. Once again, we humbly ask for your support if you're able to. Whether it’s through prayers, a donation, or a share-- every bit means the world to our family.
