Help Isaac's Widow with Funeral & Moving Expenses
Hi, my name is Corazon Ketchem. I'm fundraising for my friend and sister in Christ - Mary Ann Johnson [Brown]. She has been the bread winner for the family and the sole support for her husband, Isaac Brown who passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
Isaac had been battling kidney failure for 20 years (since 2001). He had received his first kidney transplant on 2009 & had been receiving weekly dialysis as much as 3x a week since 2013.
What is more tragic for Mary Ann was the way she found out about Isaac's passing.
Mary Ann came home for break between her shifts on Wednesday, 7/6. She left their apartment around 4PM to go back to her second shift as a care giver for a client who lives in Lawrenceville, GA.
Unfortunately, around 7PM - she gets an unexpected call from her sister-in-law Felicia (Isaac's sister) who lives in NYC asking her about her brother. Felicia then tells her that a cousin had called her to let her know that Isaac passed that afternoon.
Shocked by this unexpectedly morbid call, Mary Ann felt so overwhelmed and isolated from family and loved ones - she didn't know what to do next. She called her friend Tami - the Relief Society (women's organization) president of her congregation about this awful news and asked Tami for her much needed help at that time. Tami dropped all that she was doing and went to pick-up Mary Ann at work.
Soon after arriving at their apartment - Mary Ann and Tami were met by a police officer who reported to them that the paramedics received a 911 call from Isaac that afternoon. Isaac called for help about his vascular port bleeding and gushing out blood.
Police said that when paramedics arrived at the scene, he had already died in the pool of his own blood and did not respond to their efforts to resuscitate him.
Sad beyond words, profound grief came over Mary Ann. When both had a chance to recover from that emotional upheaval, Tami and Mary Ann courageously worked to figure out how to get their apartment cleaned up and started making all the necessary arrangements for Isaac's funeral.
In order to give a proper burial for Isaac, Mary Ann needs $8200 for a modest casket & funeral home expenses. Their congregation has helped to pay for his funeral plot.
With Isaac's gruesome passing in their apartment, it is very heart-wrenching to continue to live in the place where Isaac bled to death that dreadful Tuesday. Mary Ann needs to move out and find new living arrangements by July31st.
Mary Ann & Isaac's family appreciate any help you all can extend to Mary Ann during this very difficult time.
Thank you for taking the time to read this request for kind support.
Your prayers for peace & consolation on behalf of their family are also welcome & appreciated.
