Help Isaac James teach!

We all need a helping hand from time to time and especially at the pivotal times in our life.  I am eternally grateful for the many that have helped me and I want to pay it forward by helping out someone who needs it badly. Although that being said, you'd never know because he would never ask.  I received his permission to set up a gofund me but it took some persuading and involved some tears of gratitude.  We're all busy in this crazy world and we know that doing something for others makes life more meaningful so please consider giving even $5 to spread some good vibes.   Meet Isaac.  He needs -   - Money to help pay for his seizure medication so that he can pay for transportation to his job where he changes kids lives. Everyday.  -  Money and resources to help finish his degree. He has 19 credits to go to be a middle school history teacher where he can fulfill his dream of being a positive male role model to kids - Resources to inform him of what is out there to help both he and his mother who is blind.  He mentioned that it would be helpful to have a service dog so any recommendation would be appreciated Here's the bigger story -  Isaac Lane-James is an amazing YMCA counselor at Canyon Creek Elementary.   I say he's amazing because he goes above and beyond what you would expect from an after school YMCA program.   My son loves it and often asks to stay until they close at 6:30.  They're always having creative contests to raise money, art projects and even a talent show that Isaac organized to empower the kids creativity. One of the highlights was when Isaac blew the crowd away with his thriller break-dancing mash-up.   Through an interesting turn of events I've come to learn a lot about Isaac and I want to help him at this pivotal time in his life so he can continue to move onto a promising future.  Admittedly, I don't know him well personally so I reached out to a counselor that he works with who has known him for years.   Here's what she told me -    Isaac is 25 years old and has worked for the YMCA for two years ·      - He's an Eagle Scout - He's 19 credit hours short of getting a degree in teaching but had to take a break from school due to finances, family obligations and his illness.  - He wants to be a middle school history teacher because he feels that it's these years that are a pivotal for children.  Isaac is so passionate about seeing children progress in a positive direction. He wants to give back to the community and prepare the children for the future through education. - Two summers ago he was the Site-Director for Camp- Opportunity, a camp that is designed for campers who had a large variety of disability and or economic disadvantage kids.  He was honored in front of 1000 people for the work he did there and parents shared how he changed their children's lives.  Isaac is humble, always positive and doesn't ask for help.  And he needs it.  Here's why -  - Isaac has seizures off and on that are a result of a serious head injury. He's recovered from the injury but has  to deal with having seizures  for the rest of his life.  He takes medication that helps to greatly reduce the seizures but he doesn't have insurance so he can't afford the $240 for his medication most months.  ·     His Father passed away about a year and half ago from a rare disease and he is the primary care taker of his blind mother.  ·  He doesn't have a car and can't be cleared until he's six months seizure free which is possible if he consistently takes his medication        ·   He recently had a seizure at HEB when he was shopping with his mother.  When I asked about it he said he thinks it was brought on by stress, not taking his meds and grief from losing a good family friend named Dreylan Mason who was a victim of the package bomber  "You would think that with everything going on with Isaac he would have a negative attitude but he never does. In fact he is amazing at his job and I am blessed to be able working with him."  Come on friends, let's spread some love and help him make the impact in the world he's meant to!  Please give whatever you can and I have no doubt karma will come your way! Warmly,  Michelle
