My name is Isaac DuMontier. I'm from Mission, Montana, and I am entering my junior year of College at Columbia University in New York City. I am honored to represent my family, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and my hometown at Columbia University. Before transferring to Columbia University, I attended Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, CA. I graduated with my associate's degree in political science with an emphasis in pre-law. I intend to enter law school upon completing my bachelor's degree to focus on Indigenous law. My goal is to one day return home and support those in need within my community.
Transferring to Columbia University has been a surreal experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity! The University's financial aid packages do not fully cover tuition expenses. Between the cost of tuition and moving from California to New York, I have many expenses. To mitigate the costs, I have applied for various scholarships, grants, and fellowships and have worked two jobs to alleviate the financial burden. Any donations are much appreciated!
The average cost of tuition is estimated to be $55,000/year before aid is applied. All donations will be applied toward tuition, books, and additional fees while I continue my education. When attending school, I plan on working to cover my living expenses. However, the generosity of your donations will allow me to focus solely on my academic career. By doing so, I will be able to return home one day and give back to the Mission community, which has pushed and supported me to where I am today.
Though I'm thankful for any donations, if you cannot, no worries, a re-share of my GoFundMe is just as appreciated!
Additionally, for those who can offer insight on opportunities for work in New York, mentorships in Indigenous law, or additional funding opportunities, please get in touch with me via email.
