On October 1st, my mother's fiancée, Isaac Vitriago was detained by ICE in Kent, King County Washington, while he was at work delivering packages. He was transferred to the detention center in Tacoma, and on October 14th he will have a key hearing in his case. We need your help to cover the cost of his legal defense and part of his bond.
Isaac came to the United States from Venezuela in 2019, and in 2020 he applied for political asylum within the deadline required by law. Since then, he has done everything the right way: he obtained his work permit, his Social Security number, and his driver's license, and he was waiting for his asylum interview.
Isaac has always been a responsible, hardworking person. He has paid his taxes, respected the law at all times, and earned an honest living. The day he was detained, he was doing exactly that: working.
But Isaac is not just another case. Here, he built a life in the United States with family and friends, with whom he shares a home, dreams, and plans for the future. Almost 10 years ago Isaac went through an open hearted surgery in his home country, where he was in a waitlist for almost 2 years before receiving the care he needed due to shortage of resources needed for his procedure. We are worried, that if he is deported back to Venezuela or he is unable to continue his case outside of detainment, this could affect and deteriorate his health.
Since the day he was detained, our whole family has been living through days of deep worry and uncertainty. All we want is for Isaac to have a fair chance to defend his case and come home to the people who love him.
Having good legal representation can make all the difference. The funds will be used for:
Fees for the immigration attorney and the bond attorney representing him.
Part of his bond, if the judge grants it.
In case of his bond being denied, founds will be used for the next appeal process.
Other case-related expenses, such as paperwork, documents, and support for his family throughout the process.
Our goal is to raise $20,000. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to seeing Isaac free and back home with his family. And if you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign helps us tremendously.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and solidarity.
