Help Isaac Beat Liver Cancer

In June 2018, our beloved 11-year-old Isaac was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of liver cancer called Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Over the eight months that followed he endured nine rounds of chemotherapy and countless scans, labs, and different treatment modalities. It became quickly apparent that while chemo may have been keeping the tumor from spreading outside his liver, it was not in fact going to eradicate or even shrink the tumor. His family began to reach out to specialists around the world and travelled the country to find a treatment team that was both able and willing to take Isaac’s case. They found a team of pediatric liver specialists in New York who have successfully surgically removed Fibrolamellar tumors and they were willing to do the same for Isaac. Fast forward to the present: Isaac underwent a liver transplant on 1/15/19! His dad was his live (and heroic) donor. The family remained in New York for six weeks post discharge from the hospital so Isaac could be closely monitored by his doctors. They have since returned home and have weekly appointments with PCH and return to NY every three months for follow up scans and treatment plan reviews. While doctors caution our use of the term "cancer free" for several years to come, Isaac is currently cancer free (!) and his body is working hard to adjust and accept his new liver. Isaac has a long road of healing ahead of him but his prognosis is so good!

An amazing group of prayer warriors have stepped in to surround Isaac and his family with prayerful petitions for miraculous healing. Isaac's family requests first and foremost for continued prayers for our precious son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, student, and child of God. Pray that his body completely heals, he remains cancer free and that organ rejection is not an issue. Pray for strength and comfort for his two little sisters, mom and dad.

He is being treated by Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian in New York City in conjunction with Phoenix Children's Hospital.
