Help Isaac attend the 2024 Cannes Film Festival!
Hi everyone! To start off, I am one proud Mom who is excited, overwhelmed and a bit sad that her son is growing up. As many of you know, the film that Isaac was a part of, Sheet Talk, won an Audience Choice Award at the 2024 Filmapalooza in Lisbon, Portugal! They were also one of 25 films that were selected to be screened at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL in TWO SHORT MONTHS!
In order for Isaac to participate in this achievement, a big chunk of change will be required that neither Isaac nor we have at the moment. It’s only been nine months since he graduated high school and I was not prepared for him to be traveling around the world so soon. Isaac is a full-time student, which means he’s broke. He worked hard to save funds for the Lisbon trip, which leaves nothing for this next trip to Cannes, France.
Isaac is currently in Portugal, but we need to get the ball rolling since time is limited. Here is what he has to say:
“Hello! My name is Isaac H. Jaramillo. I am a 19-year-old filmmaker living in Salt Lake City, Utah. A year ago, a group of friends and I made a short film in 48 hours for the 48 Hour Film Project. As many of you know, we won the Salt Lake City competition! A year later (present day) we are in Lisbon, Portugal to participate in the next round. Nearly 150 short films from around the world competed in hopes of being one of the 25 lucky winners to move onto the next step: The Cannes Film Festival.
I’m thrilled to share that not only did our film win an Audience Choice Award, it was also selected to go to Cannes!
What does this mean? It offers me the incredible opportunity to travel to Cannes to attend the biggest film festival in the WORLD where our short film will be screened.
As a passionate young filmmaker with a dream to explore new horizons and immerse myself further in the world of filmmaking, this opportunity means the world to me. I’ll be able to rub shoulders with Hollywood as well as with people from around the world. This is the biggest chance I’ve ever had to truly network with directors, screen writers, editors, composers, actors, and everybody else who’s involved in the movie-making business.
Your generous support will not only help me participate in this opportunity, but it will also allow me to represent our community on an international stage.
The funds raised will cover my flight, travel, lodging, food, the competition, and anything else that is associated with the event.”
Thanks so much for helping Isaac reach his goal!
