Help Irving & Venica Gillingham Recover from House Fire

My name is Atlanta, and my grandparents, Irving and Venica Gillingham, lost everything in a house fire around 11:30 PM on May 21, 2024.

Venica was up knitting when she heard what she thought was someone at the back door. She called out to Irving, thinking someone was trying to break in, as the noise was loud. As Irving was coming up the stairs, Venica began smelling smoke and looked out the window, seeing flames at the back of their house. They immediately evacuated, leaving everything behind.

What started as a fire in their garage quickly spread to their house, engulfing it entirely. Nothing was saved.

Irving built this house in Gander Bay, Newfoundland, in the 1980s. It was here that he and Venica raised their three children, Jamie, Loretta, and Teena. Over the years, this house became a place where countless memories were made, not only by their children but also by their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Losing this home and all its memories so suddenly is truly devastating.
