Help Irma (Fumie) Kobayashi Rebuild After Wrist Surgery
Donation protected
On April 3, 2025, my dear friend Irma (Fumie) Kobayashi shattered her wrist in a fall —for this generous soul who gives to everyone else, even simple tasks have become impossible. She needs our help today.
At the Torrance Memorial Medical Center ER, Irma's wrist was visibly deformed and she was shaking from pain. The doctors sedated her with Propofol and attempted realignment, but the X-Rays showed that Irma required wrist surgery.
Medical Details & Timeline
- April 3: ER visit; Propofol sedation and attempted bone manipulation (closed reduction).
- April 3: X-Ray; Indicated distal radius fracture; Bones remained misaligned—surgery required.
- April 10: Surgery; Osteopathic surgeon installed a titanium plate and screws as an internal “splint,” ensuring proper bone alignment.
She’s now in a splint and has begun physical therapy. Typical healing takes 3–6 months before she can resume full wrist use—meaning no massage work, no driving, and limited ability to cook, clean, or handle everyday tasks.
Financial Impact
Irma faces:
Expense Category: Estimated Cost
- Out-of-pocket medical bills $9,000
- 3 months’ rent (office + apt) $9,000
- Utilities, insurance, bills $2,500
- Total Shortfall $20,500
Her savings have already been depleted by a spine fracture in 2024 and a foot break in 2023, both of which forced her to pause work and live off savings.

She would never ask for help—but now she truly needs us.
