Hello everyone,

I am reaching out today to ask for help for my sister-in-law, Irma, and her family. Irma developed a cough in 2017 while she was pregnant with her second-born, Gabby. After years of being pushed aside because she was too young to have anything seriously wrong, she was diagnosed with advanced interstitial lung disease in 2020 at the age of 30. The interstitial lung disease caused her to have pulmonary hypertension, which directly affects her heart. This was all initially caused by her undiagnosed rheumatoid arthritis.

Irma has been on oxygen since 2020. Her quality of life has been greatly impacted, making it nearly impossible to leave the house. The scarring is so severe she is now in need of a double lung transplant. Thankfully, she has been approved for the transplant by the UCLA Transplant Center and is currently awaiting her new lungs.

She is currently in the ICU as you read this, due to increased oxygen demands.
