Hi, my name is Kevin Walsh, and I’m an MMA fighter proudly representing SBG Clonmel. This September, I’ve been selected to represent Ireland on the national MMA team at the World Championships in Georgia – a huge opportunity to fight for a world title on the international stage. Unlike many other nations, MMA in Ireland receives no government funding, which means my coaches and I must cover all the costs ourselves, including travel, accommodation, and training expenses. I’ve already proven myself at the highest levels, winning bronze medals at both the Youth World Championships and the Under-21 World Championships, a silver medal at the European Championships, and gold medals as both a Youth National Champion and Four Nations Champion. I’ll be competing against athletes from countries with strong financial backing and full-time support, but that has never stopped Irish fighters from standing out and achieving greatness.
