Help Iris with medical care and bring her home

Friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters, we are reaching out today with an urgent call for help. Our beloved daughter needs help to recover from a potentially life-threatening condition.

Iris is our daughter - but to our wider family, she’s also a loving mother, sister, cousin, niece, auntie, and granddaughter. Her brother Sage has also been working with us to help build this fundraising page. We’re all praying for her safe recovery and return to England.

She is a kind-hearted, vibrant and adventurous young woman, now hospitalised in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She is fighting a serious illness, one that could soon become life threatening if the appropriate medical care is not received.

A couple days before she was due to return to England to come back to her family and be present for the birth of her sister’s baby, she became ill. A variety of seriously unpleasant symptoms totally wiped her out - fever, muscle spasms, pain and swelling, intense confusion.

Initially the doctors suspected a tropical virus, possibly dengue or chikungunya. However, blood tests have since dismissed this… suggesting instead an even more serious diagnosis of sepsis. Many days of more hospital treatment later, the diagnosis is again in question. All we know is that she is seriously ill.

Iris received daily intravenous antibiotics for several days - paid for by a friend of hers to whom we are very grateful - and initially things looked positive. She seemed to improve. However, unfortunately she has since gone seriously downhill again.

We hope you’ll consider supporting Iris and our family by contributing to her medical care, so she can return home to all of us who love her and hope to see her soon. Her son has been asking when she is coming home, but he does not know the extent of the situation.

➡️ LOGISTICAL CHALLENGES

Due to her illness and emergency hospitalisation, Iris has now significantly overstayed her Thai visa - situation which can accrue a fine which mounts by the day - even with a medical letter explaining the situation. While she has a medical certificate, Thai Immigration may still require fines to be paid before she’s allowed to fly home. This represents an additional unexpected financial burden that was outside her control.

On top of that, a return flight to the UK will be needed, possibly with medical assistance, depending on her condition at the time of discharge.

Iris remains emotionally strong and hopeful, but the financial pressure has now become too much for our family to carry alone. Resolving these barriers is essential for her safe return and continued recovery under the NHS.
