Hi everyone,

This fundraiser is for my friend Iris, who is 29 years old and lives in the Netherlands. She has been severely ill and bedridden by Lyme Disease for the past 7 years, and has debilitating symptoms like seizures that keep her stuck in bed, unable to function. Currently she is in an emergency situation as she has become homeless due to life-threatening allergies to mold and chemicals in her previous home.

Iris has a severe case of MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity) that causes her to get life-threatening symptoms whenever she is exposed to mold or chemicals like paint, perfumes and cleaning agents. She has been looking for a safe place to live for 3 years now, but this has been very difficult due to her allergies and the current housing crisis in the Netherlands (lack of available houses, very high prices). So for the past three years she had to constantly move from one place to another, having to stay in hotels and Airbnb apartments as emergency solutions. Having to do this while being severely ill and not being able to take proper care of herself, worsened her health situation even more.

Her health has worsened to the point where she can hardly get foods down, which is why she needs weekly IV treatments to get in enough nutrients, and to support her liver and other vital organs. But she hasn't been able to get these treatments for multiple months now, because they are very expensive and are not being covered by her insurance.

Iris' health has suffered a lot from all these years of extreme stress, lack of adequate care/support and unsafe and unstable living conditions. She is fighting for her life every day, and it's not just a fight against her illness, but also a fight to get proper care and treatments, a fight to get an income, and a fight for a roof over her head. A fight for her basic human needs. In Iris' own words: She is tired of surviving and just wants to live.

As Iris currently doesn't get financial support from the government and her families savings are finished, she desperately needs financial help. This fundraiser is to help her and her family survive, pay for food, supplements, and medical care. And for Iris to be able to currently stay in a safe place where she doesn't have allergies (an Airbnb apartment where she is staying at the moment), until she finds a permanent place to live.

This is critical because she really needs a safe and supportive healing environment.
