Help Iris Cover Car Accident Costs

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out because I’ve found myself in a tough situation after being involved in a car accident on April 21. I was heading home from a photoshoot at Carmel River State Beach with my partner and our dog when we were hit by another driver at a heavy traffic stop. Thankfully, none of us were seriously injured—but the emotional and financial stress since then has been overwhelming.

The person who hit me initially promised to cover the damages out of pocket, but later said he’d go through his insurance. Since then, I’ve had no clear updates or help, and the situation feels increasingly uncertain.

The damage to my car came out to $3,000. My insurance only covers $2,500, leaving me with a $500 out-of-pocket cost. On top of that, I had to pay $200 for a rental car during the first week, and now the rental company is asking for another $150 to extend it while my car is still in the shop.

I’ve done everything I could to handle this civilly, but since the responsible party hasn’t followed through, I now plan to move forward with a case to hold them accountable.
