On the evening of Sunday, September 21st, life changed in an instant for our dear friend Irina Alexentseva.

After finishing tango practice at Tea-to-Tango (TTT) at Studio 35 in Hallandale Beach, Florida, Irina was driving to her Boca Raton home when tragedy struck. Shortly after entering the highway, her car was violently hit after another vehicle lost control — caused by a reckless hit-and-run driver who sped away, leaving devastation behind.

Irina’s car was smashed into the concrete highway divider and completely totaled. Her passenger and dear friend, Olga Megan, another tango dancer, suffered broken ribs. Irina herself sustained severe, life-threatening injuries. Within a week of the crash, her body began to shut down. She was nearly paralyzed and in unimaginable pain when she was rushed to the emergency room.

Irina has since undergone major back and knee surgeries and remains in the hospital, fighting through immense pain and facing a long road to recovery. Each day is a battle — physically, emotionally, and financially.

Anyone who knows Irina knows she is a bright light — graceful, kind, and full of life. To see her now in such pain breaks all of our hearts.
