Some dear friends of mine are going through a very difficult time. The husband and father of 4 children suffered a serious leg injury while on the job that requires surgery; however, the insurance companies are bickering with one another as to who is responsible for paying for worker's comp and for the necessary medical care. For over 4 months now this family has done all they can to wait patiently while the lawyer fights for them. At this time they have run out of funds as no new money has come in since the dad cannot walk until he gets the much needed surgery to repair his broken bones.
As of now, they will be forced out of their apartment most likely Tuesday of this coming week. They still owe some money for July's rent as well as will be responsible for August in a matter of days.
If they are forced out, the family will most likely have to split with the mom and 2 youngest kids going to stay with her sister in Texas while the dad and two oldest kids remain here to await the next hearing which should take place within the next month. I plan to open my home to them if this happens, but I REALLY want to keep them together, in their current apartment so the kids can start the school year on a good note. One child will be starting kindergarten this year, and to me that is a big moment, one that needs to be done right.
The father is humble and will not beg for help, so I am asking for them. I asked him specifically, "if I secure the money, would you all like to stay in the apartment?" His response was, "yes."
Will you help me, help them? I can't do it on my own, as much as I wish I could. It is not easy for me to ask people I know to help total strangers, but if it will keep them together, then I'll beg and plead for help!
I'm asking $2,500 which will cover about 2 months and a little extra for the late payment for July. Every penny will go directly to the apartment complex for rent. If extra comes in, it will be setup to assist them if the hearing is carried over, and if they do not need it, then any access will go to help other families in need. No funds will go to waste!
