Help Injured and Sick Dogs in Sawai Madhopur

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I’m Tali, a PhD candidate in Anthropology researching human-forest-animal relationships in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, home to India’s Ranthambore National Park. I’m also a dedicated dog lover—my own pup is a rescue from Delhi’s Friendicoes—and I’ve long been involved in dog rescues.

The street dogs in Sawai Madhopur have it rough. Unlike in big cities, there’s no support from NGOs for feeding, vaccination, or sterilization. Many die from preventable diseases like distemper and parvo, while others starve.

I’m raising funds to help these dogs, especially special needs cases: dogs hit by vehicles, disabled by illness, or attacked by other dogs. Right now, I have three urgent cases (details below). Your support can give these dogs a chance at life. I’ll keep you updated on their progress and stories. Thank you and so much love!

Leela

Leela is a four-month-old puppy I met outside the entrance to Ranthambore National Park. She lay by a ladoo stand, unable to move without dragging her feet. The elderly couple selling sweets had been caring for her and her sister, but they were afraid she would be run over again. When I took her to the vet, he confirmed her legs had been broken weeks ago and had not healed properly. Leela is paralyzed. She’s now with a family that cares for her, but their other dogs are bullying her—she even lost part of her ear in a fight. Leela needs to be moved to a boarding place in Delhi that can care for her properly. Boarding will cost 6,000 INR (about $70) per month, plus any healthcare costs.

Georgia O' Keeffe

I've seen Georgia around for a while now, noting that she was sick -- she has a large mass extending out of her vagina. Recently, Georgia and I became friends when she joined me while I was feeding some of the dogs she sometimes hangs out with. I sent a picture of the mass to rescuers in Delhi, who confirmed it’s TVT cancer and she will need chemotherapy. I’m working to send her to Delhi urgently for treatment. The transport cost is 11,000 INR ($128), chemo is 13,000 INR ($152), and boarding will be about 24,000 INR ($280). Please help us save her life.

Jeetu's Family

A special family in Sawai Madhopur cares for about 20 sick and abandoned dogs. Jeetu sells vegetables in the market, but his family struggles financially. I’m raising 25,000 INR ($292) to cover the costs of medicine, vaccines, and spaying and neutering, so they can keep helping these dogs.

Your donation will support these urgent cases and any extra money will go toward helping more dogs in Madhopur. I promise to provide regular updates on their care and progress.

Thank you for supporting these dogs.
