Help Inge with Medical Bills for a Rare Cancer

Hi, my name is Lucy and I am writing to ask for help for my dear friend Inge for medical costs. Inge is currently battling a very rare and aggressive form of breast cancer known as IBC - Inflammatory Breast Cancer.

Diagnosed just 2 months after a routine mammogram came back all clear, the cancer presented itself in dramatic form overnight. The nature of IBC is that symptoms often appear very suddenly, and the cancer progresses very rapidly. Accounting for less than 5% of all breast cancers in the US, it is imperative that treatment be started as soon as possible. Currently being treated at MDAnderson in Houston, Inge feels fortunate to live close enough to have this access to one of the premier cancer treatment centers in the country.

But as far too many of us here in the US know, *access* to health care does not mean you can afford it.

A little background: Inge and I met in a somewhat unorthodox way and bonded over our dogs, love of nature, and our commitment to doing our very best to be good stewards of the planet. Oh, and jewelry. We both love unique artisan jewelry.

Inge is kind; smart; devoted to her current rescue GSD Mitzi, her husband Ron, and their little garden in Dallas; and an avid reader. She also has a keen eye for fashion and a longtime love of vintage clothing and accessories. Part old country, part new age guru, I have come to know Inge as loyal, funny, generous, a little salty when needed, and a fierce protector of all wildlife - the woman once hand carried back to a safe, wooded area an opossum which had found its way into her house!

However, facing the literal battle of her life, the added worry of how to pay for her medical costs is a stress no one undergoing cancer treatment should have to endure.

Inge and Ron, like many if not most seniors in this country, rely on Medicare for their healthcare - and when you’re facing a health crisis like a rare, aggressive cancer Medicare is simply not adequate.

So I am starting this GFM for Inge so I can hopefully take at least some of the stress of this very difficult time from her shoulders.
