A year and a half ago our founder Amy Guthrie was forced to relocate back to California after living and raising a family for 4 years in Costa Rica. Everything she owned, an entire life, had to be left behind.
Shaken up and not sure what to do next Amy struggled to find work and tried everything she could to set up a new life from scratch. From catering to even driving for Uber. Things started to look up when she was hired as a personal assistant. Her boss asked, "What do you want to do with your life?" There was no hesitation when she answered, "My dream is to open a yoga studio". Miraculously a space opened up in one of her boss' buildings a week later and she was able to get keys! It was a dream coming true.
In late February of 2020 Amy announced that Infinite Love Yoga was going to be opening for business. Not 3 weeks later our first order to close was issued before we could even open our doors. Amy tried everything in her power to create an online platform to offer stress management and physical healing to the Riverside community. It was a slow start but a start none the less! In June we were able to open our doors to the public. That's when our community really started to build. In july we were ordered to close again moving back to virtual classes. Amy fought tooth and nail to keep Infinite love a possibility. Coming up with ideas to inspire and get people motivated to practice! When were able to open up our doors again we continued to grow! More closures and low attendance due to COVID-19, and students cancelling memberships has caused us to operate at a break even level. Amidst all of these challenges we remained hopeful and positive.
Over the last few months the decline to a "break even" point of operation was hard but manageable. On Wednesday January 13th Amy Guthrie's car with all of her belongings including wallet, iphone, ipad, and a lot of important paper work was stolen from out front of the babysitters house as she picked up her daughter after work. Thankfully the police recovered the car, however the thieves were able to clean out the car and also the business bank account for Infinite love. This pushed us over the edge financially. Having to replace daily items used for business and personal life, deductibles, and the lack of all of the funds in the bank left us in the red.
We have tried to apply for assistance in the form of loans and grants but because of the fact that Infinite love is a new business, all efforts were met with major blocks and we were unable to get funding from outside sources.
With a little help we can get back on our feet and continue to offer healing to Riverside, CA. We want to show up for you! We want to help spread love and compassion and acceptance. Infinite Love is a place where you can go to learn how to manage your stress and find relief from pain and suffering on all levels, physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. A place where you can let all of your troubles melt away. Learning how to focus your mind and gain more clarity of thought. Please help us stay open so we can continue to help this community find confidence and strength!
