Help Inês Fight Rare Cancer & Support Her Little Girl Mafalda

Our beautiful friend Inês urgently needs our help.

Inês is just 38 years old, a devoted cardiology nurse who has spent the last 15 years caring for patients at Northampton General Hospital, and a loving single mum to her 6-year-old daughter, Mafalda.

In December, her world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive stage 4 lung cancer — adenoid cystic carcinoma — which has spread to her bones.

Since then, everything has changed.

Inês has already undergone major procedures, including surgery to insert a stent into her left bronchus to help her breathe, and palliative radiotherapy to manage severe pain in her hips and leg. Despite her incredible strength, she is now unable to work and will soon move from reduced pay to no income at all.

Because this cancer is so rare in the lungs, treatment options in the UK are extremely limited. Inês has had to make the heartbreaking decision to return to Portugal, her home country, to access specialist care and explore every possible treatment option available to her.

This has meant leaving behind the life she built in Northampton — her home, her belongings, and her independence — all while trying to stay strong for Mafalda.

She is now living in temporary accommodation near an oncology centre in Porto, while her parents and three sisters travel back and forth from Lisbon to care for her and help look after Mafalda.

The financial pressure is overwhelming and immediate.

We are raising funds to support Inês and her family with:

• Urgent medical and treatment-related costs

• Travel between the UK and Portugal

• Accommodation near the hospital in Porto

• Everyday living expenses while she is unable to work

• Care and stability for Mafalda during this incredibly difficult time

• Access to and exploration of any alternative or emerging treatments that may offer hope
