I’m reaching out during one of the hardest moments I’ve faced as a pet owner. My dog, Indy, a bright eyed and young year-old rotty was seriously injured in a traumatic accident and now urgently needs surgery to walk again.

While we were out (on-leash), an off-leash dog lunged at Indy. In the chaos, she jumped backwards and into the road where she immediately was struck by a transport truck. It all happened in seconds, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

X-rays show that Indy has an avulsion fracture in her ankle, meaning the ligament in her leg was torn so forcefully that it actually ripped a piece of bone off. On top of that, there are additional fractures and concern that her entire ankle joint is now unstable. Without this surgery, she risks permanent damage, chronic pain, and loss of mobility.

The cost of her surgery is estimated at $9,000, not including the rehabilitation and follow-up care she’ll need to recover properly.

Like many people, I wasn’t prepared for such a sudden and overwhelming expense—especially following an emergency vet visit just prior to this that cost $4400.00

Indy is more than just a pet—she’s my family, my companion, and a huge part of my daily life. She’s full of love, energy, and personality, and she deserves the chance to run and play again without pain.
