Indigo (Indy) is a 2 year old diluted calico who I adopted when she was just 5 weeks old. From the very first day I got her she’s been my little shadow. Indy has accompanied me through so much in my life and she means the world to me.

This past Monday Indy ingested some pollen from a lily flower which is extremely toxic to cats (even trace amounts can cause kidney failure).

Indy was rushed to the emergency vet, where they made her vomit, and gave her some activated charcoal to draw out the toxins. She had to stay 48 hours in the ICU and was finally discharged when her lab work returned normal. She did aspirate into her lungs and is being treated with antibiotics.

We feel so lucky that indy is alright and the medical treatments worked. Unfortunately her emergency vet bill totaled over $3,700. We are so happy that she’s home but have been instructed to watch her closely as she may show signs of pneumonia. Any donation you’re able to make would help pay for her expenses!
