Help Indy and Bowie Get Vital Vet Care

Donation protected
Well.. I never thought I’d see myself in this predicament and asking for help but here I am. On April 1st, Indy went in for a check up because of a large cyst on her back. It had ruptured in the past with no complications. In the last few months it had grown exponentially and started leaking black fluid. During the visit we found her cyst was benign but should be drained and lanced due to the reoccurrence and risk of infection. This was expected news from the vet. Unfortunately, during her checkup, we also found that since her last visit in November she experienced a broken molar leaving the root entirely exposed. I was contacted on April 2nd by the vet office with a quote on the cost of her surgery. If you know anything about vet care, especially that which includes anesthesia and dental care, you know it’s very expensive. I was quoted $1600 on the low end and $2200 on the high end in case of any complications or extra time needed during the procedure. I knew the cost would be high. I asked for a quote just to remove the tooth because it’s my biggest worry but the price was not far off from removing the cysts while she was still under. This is common in vet care to tackle multiple issues while your pet is under anesthesia. Indy is at a high risk for infection due to both the cyst and her broken tooth. She will be 9 years old in July and is considered a senior/geriatric. She also suffers from incontinence and takes medicine daily for it that I happily pay around $70/month for. She’s my world and the first dog I’ve ever had. I would love to keep her as healthy as I can for as long as I can. Also, her little sister Bowie who joined our family in June 2024 needs to be spayed. I was hoping to only have to worry about her spay but Indy’s unexpected health issues arose. I was quoted $750 at my vet office for her procedure but have found other places that will do it for around $200. Even if Indy’s procedure does not meet the high end of the quote, I still have to worry about the extra costs of Bowie’s spay. As of now with work and the cost of living, I have been unable to save any money and live month to month. I know we are all struggling. I don’t expect to reach my goal whatsoever but any help is greatly appreciated. It took a lot to create this fundraiser because I always find a way to provide for my pets without assistance. I have often used the very last of my food stamps some months to make sure they are fed when I don’t have the means to buy them regular dog food. If you know Indy or Bowie you know they mean everything to me and I want to be sure they are happy, healthy, and without pain or complications.
