Update 07/26/2025:
Indigo will be starting radiation treatment this week! He has been given a good prognosis if all goes well during his treatment. The radiation should be able to decrease the size of the tumor and extend his life expectancy to a year or more!
We are very relieved to be moving forward with this treatment, but are struggling with it's expenses. At this time, we are desperate for any and all donations. Please continue to spread the words and contribute when possible.
We are only wishing for the best outcome during his treatment. But we are also very sadden by possible side effects that can affect the sweet boy. Indigo has a 50% chance of losing his hearing completely due to the proximity of the tumor to his internal ear canals that will be exposed to the radiation therapy. It will be tremendously hard on him (and me) to adjust to this possibility.
I love him so much and I am so thankful each day he is here with us longer. Thank you.

It is with a heavy heart that today, 6/10/25, on Indigo's 7th birthday, a 1.5 inch round cell tumor was discovered in his throat. For the last month, he has been experiencing increased snorting and reverse sneezing, a usually harmless and common symptom of dogs with allergies. After 2 initial vet visits and being prescribed antihistamines with no change in condition, the vet moved forward with a sedated x-ray and further examination, which lead to today's discovery of the large mass. As of now, we are not sure whether the tumor is benign or malignant, and have a consultation with a surgeon tomorrow, 6/11/25. Regardless, an operation to remove the mass is required and will be costly. Today's x-rays and examinations, plus the previous visits, have costed nearly $1,000 alone.
Indigo is a sweet, loving, playful and awkward little Shiba Inu, often described as a cat in a dogs body. Everyone who has met him can agree he is full of expression, always bringing joy and giggles to the room. He has been my best friend ever since I got him at 7 months old and has been there for me during my worst, providing comfort and reassurance with immediate reaction to distress, often expressing traits of an ESA/therapy dog. I was just looking at getting him certified yesterday. He is such an important member of my family, and we are going to do everything we can for him during this time.
Any and all donations are deeply appreciated, as they will go directly towards the rising costs of his medical bills. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will be giving updates on his condition through this page, as well as on my instagram.
These are heavy times for us all, keep each other safe and taken care of, much love to you all.
