Help Indigenous Artist Escape Abuser

My name is CeeJay and I’m an Indigenous (Lakota/Dakota/Lingit) Artist and Community Organizer trapped in an abusive housing situation that I need to escape for my physical, mentally, and spiritual well being. I need help covering legal fees and securing immediate and safe housing for my cat Panzer and myself. Without enough funds, we risk homelessness… and possibly jail.

The main abuser began harassing me after I refused to aid and abet her with domestic violence. She’s discussed felony acts, abusive tactics, and has even mentioned wanting to kill her husband.

When I tried to leave, she began harassing me, disconnecting utilities, calling law enforcement telling them I’m trespassing/squatter, and lying on court forms to get a protection order against me after I got one against her. She also stole my (and my cat’s) medications, and the beading supplies I use to make my livelihood. She is now suing to evict me. If she wins, I will also be required to her legal fees.

The police have been called dozens of times and have yet to help me escape this harassment. In police reports, the abuser’s own son has stated that his mother is “difficult to live with” and “suffers from psychosis.”

Another police report mentions when she pulled her firearm out because of a mailman. In multiple recent police reports she refers to me as a trespasser, squatter, and prowler.

I now fear for my life and being shot by the abuser and have told the police this many times.

Though I have a mountain of evidence against the abusers, I cannot afford a lawyer, nor have been able to find any legal aid society to take on my case.

Though you may know me as the lady who fundraises for Indigenous communities worldwide , I have always had a difficult time fundraising for myself. Please know I wouldn’t be asking for this money if I had other options. I am requesting funds for a lawyer’s retainer fee and immediate/safe housing.
