Our sweet dog Indie is truly the best, and she’s been a cherished part of our family alongside our other pets: James, Rue, and Juno. For my husband Josh and me, our animals are our children, and anyone who knows us understands just how much we love them all. Indie’s gentle spirit and adorable personality have brought so much joy to our lives.
Recently, Indie was diagnosed with intestinal carcinoma, a metastatic cancer that’s affecting her intestines and lymph nodes. She’s only 7 years old, and the specialist explained that cancer in younger dogs tends to be more aggressive. After extensive testing, we learned that surgery isn’t possible, and chemotherapy would only offer a little more time at a significant cost. We’ve chosen to focus on palliative care, keeping Indie as comfortable as possible with medications and lots of love. She’s currently on 6-7 different medications each month, and we’re doing everything we can to give her the best quality of life for as long as possible.
The financial strain has been overwhelming. We’ve spent so much on diagnostics, vet visits, specialist consultations, and ongoing medications. As her care continues, the costs keep adding up. If anyone is able and feels called to help out, it would mean so much to us. Support in any form, such as texts, calls, visits with Indie, or donations, means the world. We love our Indie girl deeply and want to keep providing her with comfort care without falling into more financial hardship. Thank you for reading our story and for any support you can offer.
