On Christmas Eve, our family’s world was turned upside down when my 18-year-old cousin, India Heath, was shot and left for dead on the side of the road in New Jersey. By the grace of God and the compassion of a stranger—an angel we may never know—India was found in time and rushed to the hospital. She is now in stable condition and is currently undergoing her second surgery. India has suffered serious injuries, including damage to her liver and spine, and faces a long road to recovery. Despite everything, we remain positive and faithful about her healing.
India’s mother, Jessica Heath, and her siblings are at the hospital with her in New Jersey, far from home in Georgia. The hospital has asked that the siblings leave the premises, which is an added stressor for the family during this already difficult time. They need support with travel expenses, medical bills, and lodging, as well as help bringing India home to Georgia, where her 7-month-old baby girl is waiting for her mother. This situation is absolutely heartbreaking, but through it all, God has been working. India was able to give the hospital her mother’s information, and we are grateful to share that the shooter has been caught. There are not enough words to thank the angel who found her. Whoever you are, we may never know—but we are deeply grateful.
We are asking for prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Any donation is greatly appreciated, and no amount is too small. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support as India continues her journey toward healing and recovery.
