Americans and Indians, the last year has taught us that when the government is at a standstill, it is the poorest among us that suffer most. But we have also that ordinary citizens can save lives. 

In April and May, we saw thousands of Indians die PER DAY as federal and state gridlock left family members searching the streets for oxygen cylinders as loved ones on ventilators had mere hours left. Despite this recent tragedy and media attention, data as recent as May 25th indicates that a combination of high and rising oxygen needs could push India into a SECOND oxygen crisis. In fact "the need for medical oxygen to treat Covid-19 patients across low- and middle-income countries has more than doubled in the past two months." 

Our family has struggled with not being able to visit India as our loved ones and countrymen have contracted and died from this preventable disease. But we are hopeful that together, we can at least lighten the financial burden of those in dire need of medical services. Covid Isolation Center in India, offering free aid to those in need from our native West Godavari District.
