Help Inday Llane Fight Recurrent Cancer With Immunotherapy
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alona. I and my siblings are fundraising for our sister Inday Llane who needs a potentially life-saving immunotherapy. Inday Llane is a teacher who resides in the Philippines and works at one of the schools in our province of Iloilo. She loves to teach, very compassionate and is always ready to listen to any concerns even from people she just met. She has three children and two are still at the university.
Over 20 years ago, we lost our mum to endometrial (uterine) cancer despite undergoing treatments at that time. That was a tough time for all of us. In 2022, Inday Llane was diagnosed with stage III endometrial cancer. She undergone 2 surgeries, 7 chemotherapy sessions, 25 tomotherapy sessions and 3 brachytherapy sessions. She was in remission after those treatments. Over a month ago, she developed symptoms again. A biopsy was done and her histopathology result showed that her cancer has recurred. Surgery was ruled out and she was started on chemotherapy again. She already had 2 sessions. Her oncologist requested for a more detailed test of the biopsy mass sample called immunohistochemistry and the result showed that she is suitable for immunotherapy. Immunotherapy only became available where she lives last year. However, immunotherapy comes at a significant cost. In the Philippines, you mostly have to self-fund your treatment. With the help of her family and friends, she has self-funded her previous treatments. The immunotherapy medicine that her oncologist will be using is called Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) which is licensed under Merck & Co. She has applied for the company's Patient Access Program in order to get the medicine at a lower price. Despite this, it still costs just over £2,000 (USD 2,600) per cycle which she needs to have every 3 weeks for a total of 35 cycles which will cost around £70,000. We are only able to fund 7 cycles of what she needs at the moment. The interval between cycles is too frequent that we don't have enough time to pool our resources together to pay for it. On top of this, she also has to pay for 6 cycles of chemotherapy and its related costs.
All the money that we collect through this fundraising will be used for her immunotherapy. We are hoping to collect enough to cover the remaining cycles of her treatment.
We hope that you will consider donating as any amount will go a long way in helping her access the treatment that she urgently needs. Your generosity will not only assist in covering the cost of the treatment but will also provide much needed hope and strength for her and our family. If it's okay with you, please also share it to reach a wider audience.
For those in the Philippines who are unable to use the facilities of gofundme, you can use my sister’s Gcash as an alternative. 09178902062 M* LL**E C.
Thank you very much.
