Inayah has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. She fills sketchbooks. She paints. She makes mixed media pieces and has been teaching herself digital art tools completely on her own. She has a clear vision: graphic design, and she has the talent and the drive to actually get there.
This summer, that dream got a little more real.
Inayah, at just 15 years old, was accepted to SCAD Summer Seminars at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, one of the top art and design universities in the country! She'll attend two residential sessions, studying with working SCAD professors in small classes of 20 or fewer students. Her workshops cover professional Photoshop, storyboarding and visual narrative, character design, and hands-on typography and poster design - real graphic design production, the kind that builds a portfolio.
She also applied for a competitive merit scholarship and won! SCAD's $700 Silver Summer Seminars Scholarship is awarded based on academic and artistic achievement, and SCAD noted that scholarships are competitive. She submitted her materials on her own initiative.
This isn't the first time she's been recognized. In 2023, she took 1st place in the Painting and Pastels category at the Everett District Art Competition in Washington state, a juried district-wide competition, for her original work "Coral Rising." Two years later she placed 4th out of 600+ students in 2D Art at the MIST Atlanta Regional Tournament, one of the largest Muslim student competitions in North America, earning a spot at Nationals. That same year she was invited to join the National Beta Club, which extends invitations only to students who meet a rigorous standard of scholarship and character. Alhamdulillah. This is not to brag, but to show her dedication, and what has come of it.
What Allah placed in her, SCAD recognized. And now we need your help making sure she can actually get there.
The total program cost is $3,500 for both residential sessions, covering housing, meals, supplies, and instruction. After her $700 scholarship, the remaining balance is $2,800. We're also raising $500 for personal/supply expenses during her two weeks on campus.
Our goal is $3,300. Our deadline is May 28, 2026.
Every dollar goes directly toward giving Inayah a summer that could shape the rest of her life. She'll be living on a real college campus, working alongside peers from across the country, building the beginning of a professional portfolio, and getting her first real taste of what a creative career looks like up close.
I am a single-parent, doing everything I can to support her gifts. We are so grateful for every share, every prayer, and every contribution, whatever size you're able to give.
Thank you for investing in Inayah.
