Our names are Jess and Jackie. We run In the Pines Nature Program, which is a fully outdoor preschool and summer camp. We have been running on public land for the past 5.5 years, with the dream of one day being able to acquire our own property to run a full-day forest and farm school.

We have found the property of our dreams in Kamas, UT. This land has both forested and prairie landscapes, which allows us many opportunities for exploration and farming. We plan to protect this land and build our infrastructure sustainably with minimal impact and to keep the integrity of the land in place. We are planning to buy this 40-acre parcel of land from another business who shares our values and vision.

We are planning to use this property to facilitate the following:

Forest School

· Licensed outdoor preschool program offering half and full-day options, year-round.

· Spring and fall preschool programs.

· Yurts to use as our indoor classroom.

Farm

· Vegetable gardens and flower beds, to be used to teach children about gardening, the plant life cycle and pollinators; and to feed them healthy foods, which they have helped to grow.

· Composting area, which will help us to be more sustainable and allow children to learn about the importance of composting and soil health.

· Beehives and a chicken coop to provide fresh honey and eggs and opportunities for the children to practice responsibility and nurturance.

Community Events

· Space to hold community gatherings, including farm-to-table dinners, seasonal celebrations, forest school family events, and a farm stand.

· Area for adult education and workshops, including: gardening, tea making, flower arrangements, arts and crafts, honey harvesting, yoga, and music.

Camps

· Nature-based youth camps for children of all ages, during holiday breaks and summer.
