PAITITI RESEARCH

A Scientific Expedition into the Unknown – May 2027

Paititi Research was founded in 2017 by Ceslav Cieslar and Yaroslav Vasyunin — two explorers united by a shared passion for the history and culture of Peru. Over the years, scientists, researchers, technologists, and adventurers from around the world have joined our mission.

We are driven by one question:

Can the legendary lost city of Paititi be real?

Unlike many expeditions before us, we rely not on speculation — but on science.

A New Approach to an Ancient Mystery

Our research combines anthropology, historical cartography, colonial chronicles, Indigenous testimonies, and — most importantly — advanced remote sensing technology.

Using satellite analysis and terrain modeling, we have identified suspicious geometric formations deep within a remote sector of Manu National Park — one of the most inaccessible and biodiverse regions on Earth.

You can see them here:

or here:

Now two crucial questions remain:

• Are these structures truly man-made?
• And if so, could they be linked to the legendary lost city of Paititi?

There is only one way to find out.

A ground expedition:After all, no matter how advanced remote sensing becomes, it can never offer full certainty until its results are confirmed on the ground.

Why This Matters

The search for Paititi transcends adventure. It is about rediscovering a lost chapter of human history.

If confirmed, such a discovery could become one of the most significant archaeological breakthroughs in South America since the scientific recognition of Machu Picchu.

It could reshape our understanding of Incan civilization and ist influence in the Amason basin— its architecture, engineering, trade networks, and cultural reach. It would deepen our connection to a society that flourished in one of the most challenging environments on Earth.

This is not treasure hunting.

This is scientific exploration.

A Note on Scientific Responsibility

While our research is guided by historical evidence and advanced technology, we recognize that there is no guarantee the surveyed site will prove to be the legendary Paititi itself.

However, even if the structures we investigate are not the mythical city, the region remains archaeologically underexplored. Any confirmed man-made formations would likely represent a significant and previously undocumented archaeological site in its own right — contributing valuable knowledge about pre-Columbian civilizations in the Amazon basin.

Regardless of the outcome, the data collected will expand scientific understanding of human settlement in one of the least studied regions of South America.

The Role of LiDAR Technology

At the heart of our mission is LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging).

LiDAR is a remote sensing method that uses laser pulses emitted from a drone or aircraft to measure distances to the Earth’s surface. By sending hundreds of thousands of laser signals per second and recording their return times, the system generates highly detailed three-dimensional models of the terrain.

In dense rainforest environments like the Amazon, traditional archaeology faces a fundamental obstacle: visibility. Thick vegetation conceals the ground surface almost entirely.

LiDAR overcomes this “low visibility” barrier that has hindered Amazonian archaeology for decades. The laser pulses penetrate gaps in the forest canopy, allowing researchers to digitally remove vegetation and reveal hidden structures beneath.

This technology has already transformed archaeological research in tropical regions worldwide. In our case, it allows us to identify geometric anomalies invisible from the ground or from a satellite, detect potential walls, terraces, roadways or platforms.

LiDAR does not replace fieldwork — it makes it smarter, safer, and far more scientifically precise. Our strategy is to approach the target area as closely as possible by river, minimizing our footprint within the protected environment. From there, we will deploy a drone equipped with LiDAR technology to conduct a high-resolution aerial survey of the territory where we suspect the remains of an ancient city may lie concealed beneath the dense canopy. Once the survey is complete, we will withdraw, leaving the landscape undisturbed.

The true expedition, however, will only begin after our return. We expect to spend weeks — perhaps even months — in careful anticipation, meticulously analyzing the vast datasets obtained from the survey. With a mixture of scientific rigor and restrained excitement, we will examine the data for subtle anomalies, geometric patterns, and structural signatures that may reveal traces of human presence long hidden from view.

Transparency: Risks and Challenges

Exploring the heart of Manu National Park is a complex legal and logistical challenge. The most significant risk we face is obtaining official research permits from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture and SERNANP (Servicio Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado).

We are fully committed to operating legally, ethically, and in full cooperation with the relevant authorities.

• In case of delays in receiving the required permits, we will postpone the expedition until all authorizations are secured.

• In case of official refusal, we will return all donations in full to our backers.

We believe transparency is essential. Your trust is the foundation of this mission.

The 2027 Expedition

We are planning a fully documented scientific expedition for May 2027 in cooperation with the National University of Engineering in Lima and professional logistics partners in Peru.

The Amazon rainforest presents extreme challenges:

• Dense jungle terrain
• Remote river access
• Wildlife hazards
• Strict national park regulations
• Territories of Indigenous communities that must be approached with the utmost respect

This expedition requires careful coordination, legal authorization, advanced technology, and proper safety infrastructure.

And that is why we need your support.

Where the Money Goes

A mission of this scale demands transparency and responsibility. Every contribution directly funds scientific research and field operations.

River Transport to the Research Area
A specialized logistics team will take us by boat deep into the jungle, reaching the nearest accessible point to the suspected structures. From there, we will establish a base camp and conduct the LiDAR survey by drone.

Professional LiDAR Drone Survey
High-resolution LiDAR scanning conducted by a professional drone team to digitally remove the forest canopy and detect hidden structures beneath dense vegetation.

Official Permits – €500
Legal research and access permits from Peruvian authorities.

Respectful Cooperation with Local Indigenous Communities – €300
Appropriate offerings and support to local Indigenous communities, including the Matsiguenga people, in accordance with cultural traditions and ethical research principles.

Satellite Communication – €1,200
Emergency communication equipment for work in areas without cellular coverage.

Expedition Supplies – €1,500
Food, water purification systems, tents, and essential jungle survival equipment.

Vaccinations – €300
Mandatory medical preparations for team safety.

Survival & Safety Equipment – €500
Navigation tools, protective gear, and additional field equipment.

Be Part of the Discovery

History is not finished.

There are still blank spaces on the map. Still questions waiting for answers. Still stories hidden beneath the rainforest canopy.

With your support, we can take the next decisive step toward investigating one of the greatest legends of the Americas — and perhaps transform legend into documented history.
