Help Nancy fight cancer!

For those of you that don’t know, Nancy was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer on November 4. Not only was it devastating news, but a complete shock, as she was training for a half marathon 2 months prior and thought she had a mere cold one month before the diagnosis. In true Nancy style, after receiving the diagnosis, she “gave [herself] 30 min to cry about it alone, then decided it was time to move on and figure out the next step.” She didn’t complain once, but rather was more concerned how her family and friends would cope with the news, and wondering if she should cut off her hair immediately so she could donate it to Locks of Love. Her strength, selflessness and unwavering positive perspective are beyond inspiring. She is the ultimate role model.

Although she does have health insurance, it will cover only 80% of medical costs and Nancy is liable for the remaining 20% of the costs. Costs of stage 4 cancer treatment typically range anywhere from $200,000-$500,000. Not only are the exponential treatment costs a concern, but Nancy will have to take extended time off work. Obviously Nancy would never complain or ask for anything, but we don’t want her to have to stress about finances on top of everything else… hence the reason for sending this to you. Nancy is the strongest, most resilient, loving, selfless, compassionate, sincere, fearless, direct, loyal, beautiful, optimistic, stubborn fighter there is, and if anyone can beat this cancer, it’s her. As one of her friends eloquently stated, “it’s time for Nancy to put that spicy attitude to work and kick this cancer’s ass.” Amen.
