Malia Hessler’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Aloha,my little sister Malia had a freak accident happen to her this week where she fell down through a wood platform and shattered and cracked her tibia leg bone. she just got out of surgery where they have placed 13 bolts and a stainless steel plate in her leg. she had to have a blood transfusion from loosing so much blood in a problematic 6 hour surgery and the doctors are telling us it’s $2000 a day to be in the hospital with her insurance. The doctors are saying she will not be able to walk for the next 6 months and is now bed ridden.
Malia has a long journey of physical therapy and healing ahead of her and will not be able to work or do much at all.
my sister is a hard working essential worker who is and has been a long time Hospice Maui nurse assistant who assist and care takes elderly at their homes as her job, she also is a part time nurse at our local island jail for the inmates. She has also worked many years at Kula Hospital and Roselani Place assisted living. She has the biggest heart, patience of a saint and is always there to help people when they are down and out.
Malia has assisted many of our communities kupunas by helping the elderly feel as comfortable as possible in their last years and days of their lives.
She just bought a house this year and has a new mortgage as well as two small children, a little girl, age 7 and her son turns 9 years old in two weeks. this is their first holiday season in their new home that she feels has been ruined by her accident.
