Help in Madison's Medical Journey
Hello, my name is Summer and I have started this GoFundMe for Roxanne McNelly; mom of Madison Wilson, Humboldt KS. Yesterday afternoon (Aug.23, 2021) Roxanne received the call that no mother ever wants to receive. She was told that her oldest child, Madison (19) was the passenger in a life-threatening car accident and she would be transported via helicopter to a facility that has the capacity to deal with her extensive injuries. Madison was life-flighted to Freeman hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Upon arrival it was discovered that Madison's neck was shattered from C2-T7 and she had several fractures in her back, as well as a broken clavicle. Her injuries were too comprehensive for this hospital to handle. Madison was then transferred to Springfield, Missouri to a hospital that is more specialized in the field of treatment that she requires with multiple neurosurgeons on staff to assist. Madison underwent surgery last night on her neck in an attempt to release fluid and pressure from her spinal cord. A rod and multiple screws were put in to help stabilize her. The surgery was successful, but it is just the first of many. It is still unclear on the condition of Madison's spinal cord. Madison is currently paralyzed from the chest down to her feet. Roxanne will be by Madison's side for the entirety of her healing journey. But, Roxanne does not have any family medical leave at her work and needs assistance to stay with Madison while still being able to pay her bills, eat, and maintain a home. Her hotel is $70 a night and she can only sustain a handful of nights on her own. Roxanne has also left her younger daughter, Liam, in Humboldt to be cared for by her grandmother. To be able to travel back and forth to care for two of her children Roxanne is needing help. Roxanne's other daughter, Zoey, is currently in Colorado awaiting the ability to be by her sister's side. If you can donate, please do! If you cannot, please share and pray for Madison as her road is uncertain at this time.
