On November 26, 2022, Sergio Melendrez, lovingly known as “Coach Sergio” was called home. His passing was unexpected, sudden and a complete shock to not only his immediate family, but to his boxing family as well.

Coach Sergio left a lasting impression with everyone he met. He was a rock in the boxing community and loved coaching his young fighters. His final coaching spirit was felt at Azteca San Diego Boxing Club in Bonita, Ca. It is here at ASDBC that his son, Adrian, feels should be his forever home.

Adrian and ASDBC would like to ask for your help in creating a memorable and permanent space of dedication for our beloved Coach Sergio. As we are finalizing costs for services and burial, we would like to extend our remembrance of Coach Sergio with a custom boxing urn for his dedicated space at ASDBC. Please come by the gym and continue his legacy by training with his son, Adrian, sharing stories, and living out his passion for boxing.
